Our History
Chateau Wyuna began as the dream home of artist Clarence Earle, set in the scenic Bellbird Country along Olinda Creek. Construction started in the early 1900s and took nine years to complete. The first structures built were the fireplaces and chimney, crafted by a skilled stonemason using stones chosen by Earle. He then worked with Pat and Jim Clancy to build the main building over six years.
Timber was sourced from the surrounding forest, felled and carted five kilometers by a six-horse team, and seasoned for five years before use. Some of the logs were 18 meters long, and only the edges were dressed with a bread-axe to preserve the natural beauty of the wood. Inside, the timbers were finished with an adze, creating a smooth, textured finish, and much of the built-in furniture was made from local stringybark.

Chateau Wyuna was the perfect place for our wedding as it’s a hidden gem in the suburbs of Melbourne. When choosing a place for our wedding reception, Chateau was always friendly, up front about what you pay for, and considerate of the decision we had to make. Going forward, Cathy gave us heaps of information and advice while planning and also recommended lots of great local vendors that were reasonably priced. On the day, the coordination was seamless and willing to adapt to our long speeches (sorry!). The food was incredible and the gardens were spectacular for our spring wedding. Thanks so much for making our day extra special. We loved it!

We were truly lucky to find a place like Chateau Wyuna. The gardens were so beautiful and exactly what we were after for our wedding day. All the staff, particularly Cathy (our coordinator and amazing MC), were so supportive, friendly, professional! We felt so calm on the day knowing we were in good hands of the Chateau Wyuna team. Andrew was so easy to work with. Answered emails quickly. Took great care of us when we had to postpone. I couldn’t recommend this place enough. Every guest said they enjoyed themselves and the food was great. The venue was gorgeous and they took care of everything on the day. I barely lifted a pinky! Even the waiters was incredible. They kept checking in on my during the reception. Everyone really went above and beyond.

Planning our wedding from Adelaide, mostly the communication was done by emails and calls but never disappointed. The ceremony was beautiful, the reception was a blast, and the whole weekend felt like a dream. Thank you for including us in your big day.
